Welcome back Sheryl

24 Mar 2017

Oakmount are extremely proud to welcome Veterinary Surgeon Sheryl back to practice!

Studying for a certificate in exotic animal medicine and surgery Sheryl will be joining us working part time 2 days a week.

Here's what Sheryl would like to share with you regarding her return to work...

I qualified from Glasgow vet school in 2001 and knew that small animal practice was where I wanted to work.
Before joining Oakmount, I worked in many other practices in the North, as both a permanent member of staff and as a locum. A short spell in teaching at Myerscough College followed before I felt I had amassed enough knowledge of what I did and didn’t think worked in general practice to go into partnership with my husband here at Oakmount!

Small animal medicine has always been where my heart lay…but with a particular interest in the more exotic members of the pet world!
I am presently in the very fortunate position of working part time here in the practice, whilst also studying in the remaining time for a certificate in exotic animal medicine and surgery.
Whilst this course does include a zoo animal component, I doubt this will form a large part of my caseload in Lancashire!
However, I am very much enjoying getting to know the vast array of exotic pets being kept in the region - from the ever popular rabbits and rodents through reptiles, birds, fish and also the different challenge of working with wildlife….each group of animal brings their own unique attributes and I love the variety and challenges my job in exotics provides.
