Hospitalisation

Oakmount Veterinary Centre proudly have a team member on site at all times

Our team of Veterinary Surgeons, Veterinary Nurses and trained staff care for our patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. Oakmount Veterinary Centre proudly have a team member on site at all times.

As an accredited and inspected RCVS Hospital, our standards of care meet the requirements of our regulatory body at the highest level both day and night.

The Veterinary Surgeon on call is responsible for ensuring a detailed and individual treatment plan is written, discussed and given to the person who is directly responsible for the nursing care that evening/weekend and that all in-patients receive the treatment and care that they require.

As the Veterinary Surgeon Providing care to our hospitalised patients and as a guide, we at Oakmount would expect that:

  • The care given/received overnight and at weekends be no different than that we provide during our normal working day.
  • All animals on fluid therapy will be checked at regular intervals during the night and at weekends.
  • Analgesia, where necessary will be incorporated into the treatment plan for each hospitalised case, ensuring that there are no gaps in pain relief.
  • The Veterinary Surgeon providing the care for our hospitalised patients will be expected to provide or arrange observations, nursing care around the clock for all critically ill animals.

Please be assured that while your pet is hospitalised with us at Oakmount Veterinary Centre our staff will take great care of him/her.

We endeavour to update and discuss all overnight care/treatment for their pets with our clients at approximately 8pm on the evening of Hospitalisation.
